Jonathan Bean is a seasoned investment executive with more than three decades of experience in alternative asset management, institutional investing, and private capital formation. He is widely recognized for building durable investment platforms and for his long-standing involvement in financial services, natural resources, and philanthropy.
Mr. Bean is the co-founder of Hampden Insurance Partners Management (Cayman) Limited, an institutional investment firm providing capital to the Lloyd’s of London insurance market. Under his leadership, the firm grew to approximately $700 million in assets under management, becoming one of the early institutional third-party capital providers operating within the Lloyd’s platform.
Previously, Mr. Bean co-founded HBV Capital Management LLC, an event-driven investment firm with offices in New York, London, and Hong Kong. The firm managed approximately $1.2 billion in assets prior to its acquisition by The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation in 2006. Earlier in his career, he served as a Director at Allen & Company LLC, where he focused on alternative investments and private capital opportunities.
Mr. Bean also serves as President of W.R. Bean & Son, a family-owned natural resources and investment company founded in 1894, as well as J.S. Bean & Son, the family’s investment and administrative office.
In addition to his professional work, Mr. Bean is actively involved in philanthropy and community leadership. He has served on nonprofit boards, supported educational and faith-based organizations, and remains engaged in charitable initiatives. He is known for his disciplined investment philosophy, long-term perspective, and commitment to responsible stewardship.
